I don't understand why Cupid was chosen to represent Valentine's Day. When I think about romance, the last thing on my mind is a short, chubby toddler coming at me with a weapon. ~Ramesh Bhati~
Sher or She'r (Arabic: شعر) is the common word for poem in Arabic and Persian.
In Urdu, sher is a form of poetry, essentially a couplet. The plural for Sher is Ashaar. The form ghazal is nothing but a collection of mulitiple shers - each of which should convey a complete thought without any reference to other shers of the same ghazal.
